Even if my major is computer science, I still learned a lot from the Data Tools First lectures. Some technology and tools, such as SAS, CUDA, and MPI, are not usually utilized in the field of computer science but are mostly used in the field of statistics and media science. Studying these tools in depth widened my horizon and hopefully, it can help me improve my creativity in my current field.

It has been several years since I last coded. The opportunities to use various tools from ones I was already familiar with to ones designed for big data has been a great experience. Although I have yet to accumulate sufficient expertise to take full advantage of all of these tools, these tools have broadened my choices when conducting my own research.

The Data Tools First was a great experience. Although I already have some experience using the tools, it was a great "refresh". I hope some more specialized courses for Big Data will be available. For instance, a Machine Learning course, database optimization (indexes, views, etc...). I think real world data processing, require vast knowledge and experience. If an english version were available, it would be an invaluable event.

I was unfamiliar with many tools. Although I have limited programming experience, I feel that these tools will be powerful once I get used to them.

I had no experience with programming languages because I have always worked on hardware, including semiconductor devices and electronic equipment. Data Tools First exposed me to many different programming languages that I could actually use, providing me with first-hand experience in realizing the usefulness of these tools. For example, I now know that MATLAB may enhance my current research on high-performance devices. I would like to create something with other program participants as soon as possible.

Issues in real-world fields such as medical care, engineering, and economics encompass diverse areas, and many current issues require handling vast amounts of data. I consider Data Tools First an excellent opportunity to learn about the existence of powerful tools to solve real issues. Even if you have an idea on how to solve an issue, action cannot be taken until you know how to use these tools. Data Tools First provides important bridges between ideas and actions. These courses haven given me significant guiding principles for the future directions of my research.

The Data tools first was a great opportunity to learn new tools and new knowledge needed for our studies and future career. To experience the best of the sessions, new technologies, and programs that we might not have chance to learn during our research period.

The Data Tools First courses helped me build up the basic and elementary cognition of the useful tools for data processing. These courses are impressive not only because we realize that the data processing is fantastic, but also because they activate my motivation to digitize this whole real world.

Although searching and selecting the appropriate tools for one's own project can be daunting, I was able to compare the strengths, characteristics, and suitable applications of many tools used to handle data thanks to Data Tools First. With the assistance of my lecturers and TAs to learn the basics, I was able to actually use these tools. I think this experience has lowered my mental barrier in learning how to use required tools in the future.

The Data Tools First lectures were useful for me because I learned many tools that I can use to successfully carry out the projects that I have in mind. Using these tools, I can come up with more complete applications because I realized the potential of some tools being able to analyze different types of data. Therefore, I will not limit myself to just the electronics, which is my major, but also challenge myself to cope with data processing.

The Data tools first is a good opportunity for me to learn how to use the tools about data processing which I seldom used in my study since I was a Mechanical Engineering student. So I consider the Data Tools First is not only a good tool to help with my further research, but also a good chance for me to know more about the data circulation, broaden my horizon, and create something which is meaningful to the whole world.

Data Tools First exposed me to many different tools and provided me with opportunities to become familiar with new tools, broadening my view with fresh surprises. Until this class, my experiences were limited to tools necessary for my research. This course taught me different approaches to data that I did not know existed.

Data Tools First provided me great opportunities to find out about various programming languages, ranging from what I already knew from my day-to-day uses to ones that I had never heard of. Although there may have been aspects that I might have struggled with if I were studying them on my own, help from professors, TAs, and my fellow participants made my learning experience easier. I am still far from proficient in using the new languages that I learned in Data Tools First, but these experiences certainly gave me a good head start in broadening my choices when selecting the best tools for my future research.

I am majoring in psychology. I consider myself lucky that the Data Tools First courses are taught in practical manners for someone like me with a liberal arts background. The process where I saw the characteristics of each tool through hands-on experiences by following instructor-guided projects greatly stimulated my intellectual curiosity. The curriculum of this program is full of valuable experiences such as these. I would like to realize my dream of contributing to solving the challenges that modern society faces.

There are so many tools available in the world. Although I am an information science major, I have used only a handful of them. Data Tools First provided me with opportunities to experience many new tools. I was able to learn strengths of these tools very well. I have no doubt that these experiences will be very valuable in my research.

I am a medical science major, but I feel that incorporating the methodologies of information science tools in medical research will open up opportunities to develop novel evaluation methods. I think it is wonderful that we have opportunities to touch upon these specialized tools in the beginning phase of this Leading Program, which is designed primarily around information science. I would like to combine knowledge and methodologies from different specializations for a synergistic effect to experience and impart novel activities.
