A lecture and a question and answer session with Dr. Satoshi Sekine, Director of Rakuten Institute of Technology, New York was held on May 16th.
The lecture covered Rakuten's unique research using big data, including various data from shopping sites that Rakuten operates, their logs, and reviews, as well as challenges and solutions to processing natural languages.
A lively discussion ensued during the question and answer session about Director Sekine's experiences and mindset as a researcher. This seminar provided an excellent opportunity for students to evaluate their own research and future direction.
