October Report - Plenary Meeting

The October Plenary Meeting was held at the Leaders Saloon in the IB Electrical Engineering and Computer Science West Tower of Nagoya University on Monday, October 27. The main topic was feedback from the digital poster presentations during the September Plenary Meeting. The highlights are summarized below.

General comments on the poster presentations

During the practice presentations, students and faculty members in the audience scored each evaluation criteria as a bad (0), average (1) or excellent (2). The tallied results were used to provide general feedback.

Individual evaluations for each poster

Next each poster was discussed individually. Specific comments (both positive and negative) were provided. The following points were mentioned for many of the posters:

  ・Good (bad) poster layout

・Too many characters and too small of a font size

・Include the name of the person who prepared the poster

・Insufficient (too many) videos and photographs

The practice presentations at the September plenary provided the student presenters specific feedback to improve their presentation abilities. Students who did not present also benefited by viewing their peers' posters and presentations and discussing the evaluations. As part of the real-world data circulation program, participants have many opportunities to present.

Joint symposium among the six leading graduate schools

The final topic was a progress report regarding preparations for a joint symposium of the six leading graduate schools. This symposium is unique because students are taking the initiative to organize and execute it. In addition, students can interact with other leading graduate students that they usually do not see. The students responsible for organizing the symposium provided an update, which included the time and date.
