Industry-Academia Creative Group Work

In the Industry-Academia Creative Group Work (CGW), students work in group projects while receiving guidance from business mentors. They learn about business mind, project management, and leadership.

The theme of the second CGW is related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. Students are asked to propose two related ideas for social businesses: a “Standard Plan” which is easier to implement, and a more challenging “Innovative Plan.” In this Plenary Meeting, each group presented their results after conducting their last meetings. Below there is a short summary of every proposal:

Group A

LeaderJingya Yao (4th inaugural class)
TitleGood Health and Well-Being
SummaryThese two proposed ideas are related to physical health and happiness. For the standard plan, the results of students' physical checkups are planned to be used to improve the menu of the universities' canteens. In the innovative plan, the proposal is a Social Network targeted at keeping senior citizens active. On this platform, elderly people can exchange pictures and chat about outside activities, so they are more likely to take part in these.

Group B

LeaderRichard Rodrigues de Toledo Jr. (4th inaugural class)
TitleClimate Action Standard & Innovative Plan for Air Pollution
SummaryThese two proposed ideas are related to solving air pollution issues. In the standard plan, smart house technologies for energy reduction will be implemented on a larger scale by constructing a “smart city”. In the innovative plan, a dessert with a detoxifying effect cleaning the atmosphere in a similar way as plants will be developed. Using this, humans will be able to clean the atmosphere by themselves.

Group C

LeaderSyunya Seiya (4th inaugural class)
TitleHelping People Living Alone
Summaryelderly people will live in shared houses. An A.I. assisted algorithm will find an ideal matching. In the innovative plan, elderly citizens will use wearable devices to track physical conditions. Based on the measured data, rescue robots can be dispatched.

Group D

LeaderChen Shen (4th inaugural class)
TitleDecent Work and Economical Growth
SummaryThese two proposed ideas are targeting people with physical disabilities. The standard plan is a service aimed at assisting international students with physical disabilities. It will assist in obtaining data for building language communities. In the innovative plan, the creation of a job hunting system for people with physical disabilities is proposed.
