This time, two students reported on their experiences during their research internship. Other than their research topics, they also discussed experiences and viewpoints encountered during the research internship.
Mari Endo developed a web system in cooperation with the local facilities and work groups. She reported, that she could successfully connect her experiences and connections with her own research. Hang Dong worked on an optimization problem involving real world data. She reported, that she could experience the speed differences between academia and business, as well as how to solve problems from the respective viewpoints.
Here is a short summary of each research internship:

In the Industry-academia collaboration Ideathon/Hackathon program, affiliated enterprises provide AI-, IoT- or BigData-related problems and topics for groups of students to solve. Multiple ambitious groups of graduate students compete to brainstorm novel ideas and business models for conquering these issues.
This time, each group reported on their mid-term results. They discussed their hypotheses, how to verify them, and which data would be needed for the further analyses. Afterwards, the teams received additional explanations on the dataset. The groups proceeded to discuss details and as well as their next steps.
Four groups have been established, led by the following students:
Group A | Nozomu Ohashi (Fourth inaugural class, Engineering) |
