April Plenary Meeting Announcement

At the beginning of the April Plenary Meeting, this year's Leading Program opening ceremony took place. Afterwards, students presented their final results in the 2018 Creative Research Project.

Here is a short summary of each topic:

Opening Ceremony

At the ceremony, the newly enrolled students were welcomed into the program by receiving their entrance certification. Additionally, two students received an award for outstanding performance in their QE1.

Five new students enrolled the program as 6th inaugural class students. Each student expressed their determinations and aspirations for joining the Leading Program.

Goki Hatasa and Etsutaro Kamino received the Awards for Outstanding Performance in QE1.

Final report on Creative Research Project 2018

In the "Creative Research Project," students from different fields of expertise form groups and start research projects together. The choice of research topics is both proposed and evaluated by students. Last year, the topic by Etsutaro Kamino (4th inaugural class) was chosen for the 1-year research project.

  • Title:Hack the Hashtag
    Members:Etsutaro Kamino, Ryosuke Onose, Wenbin Zhou, Yusuke Hattori
    Summary:
    The objective was to automatically generate hashtag lists for images uploaded to Social Media services by using image recognition techniques and location information. This can reduce the time and effort needed for humans to manually tag images. So far, they finished implementing a working Web application and a LINE bot. For future steps, they plan to continue this project by developing a dedicated mobile app.
