Report on Tokai Digital Human Resources Forum: Challenge of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System

More than 10 venture companies have created a value of over than 1 billion yen in the Nagoya University Doctoral Program, "Graduate Program for Real World Data Circulation Leaders". The efforts and results of deploying human resources cultivated through "Real World Data Exercises" to the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System in collaboration with the local business community, Mie University, and Hiroshima University were introduced.

The brief summaries of each session in forum are describes below.

"Strengthening doctoral programs and growing student ventures"

Prof. Kazuya Takeda
(RWDC Leading Program Coordinator)

The RWDC Leading Program Coordinator, Prof. Kazuya Takeda, who is director of Seamless Mathematical and Data Science Education Co-Creation Division, introduced the mathematical data science education organization at the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System. In his presentation, the aims of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System and the University Union were firstly introduced. Secondly, the efforts of the "Graduate Program for Real World Data Circulation Leaders" which is one of the two digital human resource development programs, was mainly introduced. Finally, the students and graduates who made a start-up company were introduced, and the future prospects were described.

"Student Ventures Created by Real World Data Circulation: Lectures by Representatives of Three Companies"

Firstly, Ken Matsushita who is 2nd generation student, introduced "OPTIMIND Co., Ltd.". The company profile and the business content of their company "Last 1-mile route optimization" were described. Secondly, Yuki Nagae, who is 1st generation student, introduced "Trieting Co., Ltd.". A brief self-introduction, a company profile, and the business content of their company "Automating operations with a no-code AI cloud" are described. Finally, Yuki Tachibana who is 1st generation student, introduced "Map Ⅳ Co., Ltd.". The characteristics of their company's business specializing in 3D map and location estimation technology and the relation between the company's business and Real World Data Circulation are described.

"Development of core human resources who will be responsible for regional DX"

Prof. Shigeki Matsubara (Professor of Information Strategy Office in Nagoya University)

Prof. Shigeki Matsubara introduced the efforts of the "Practical Data Scientist Development Project". In his presentation, the business outline and cooperation system of the "Practical Data Scientist Training Project" was firstly introduced. Secondly, the common guidelines for Real World Data Exercise-type education were explained. Finally, the sharing and practice of education programs were described.

Prof. Hiromi Nakaiwa (Designated Professor of Mathematics and Data Science Center in Nagoya University)

Prof. Hiromi Nakaiwa introduced the results of problem-solving human resource development through co-creation with industry. In his presentation, the training results of three programs: "Real World Data Circulation Leader Training Program", "Real World Data Circulation Consortium", and "Practical Data Scientist Training Program" were introduced. Firstly, the efforts in the three programs were explained. Secondly, two concrete examples of achievements were described. Finally, hypotheses, data analysis results and considerations for following two cases were introduced: Benesse Corporation's "Research on Effective Learning for Growth of Qualities and Abilities" and Seino Information Service's "LLP (Lead Logistics Provider) Operation Work Prediction/Staffing".
