September Plenary Meeting Announcement

At the Plenary Meeting in September, the reports of Research Internship, Global Challenge II, and Follow-up Visit were presented from the RWDC students. Introduction of start-up and report on the results of creative research activities in 2019 were followed.

Research Internship

In the research internship, RWDC students visit a university or company of their choice and experience organization and management at the research site of the company. This time, there was a report on the business content and activities of the startup company that the RWDC students started. In addition to the details of the research theme, the student touched on the purpose of starting a business and the experience and knowledge actually gained. If the program faculty members approve the entrepreneurial activities of these students, they will be considered as activities equivalent to a research internship and will be part of the program completion requirements.

Global challenge II

Through the Global Challenge II, RWDC students visit research institutes longer than several months and conduct the research at the world's most advanced sites. The purpose of this activity is to experience the world's top-level research and deepen exchanges with various researchers. On the meeting of this time, one student reported on their experiences and achievements of Global Challenge II. The student mentioned that he was able to work on research under the great guidance of top-level researchers and it helped to their own research in Japan. He also mentioned that life in other countries is quite different with its in Japan. The specific information of the student and research institute are as follows:

Follow-up Visit

Follow-up Visit allow groups to revisit the research institute where each student (host student) stayed through the Global challenge II, along with students from a different research specialty. The purpose of this activity is getting to know the forefront of research in different fields and to expand the human networking. At this time, one student reported his experiences and achievements from Follow-up Visit. He said that Follow-up Visit allowed members in the same group to learn about the research and experience what each of them have undertaken in top-level institute as well as to build a research network in different fields. He also said that he could deeply discussed with the researchers in the visit institute about the collaboration with his research. The specific information of the student and visiting institute are as follows.

Introduction of Start-up company

At this time, one student introduced his Start-up company. In the presentation, the company's three core/confidence are mainly introduced. The first thing is the accurate technique for analyzing the text data. Based on this technique, the company has released the application named of 'Rakutan-Rakuda'. The second thing is the visualizing technique and the function of data management utilizing the graphical database. Based on these techniques, the company has released the application named of 'ClusterViz'. The third one is the effective Hashtag proposing technique. Based on this technique, the company has released the application named of 'Hashdog'. The specific information of the student and the company are as follows.

Final report of Creative Research Project

The activities related with 'Creative Research Project' are conducted by making a group with the students who are having different majors. The research projects had proposed from the students were evaluated from the supervisors in RWDC program, and the only selected projects can be progressed. In the last year, the research project proposed by CHIN Hyuntai, 2nd generation student is selected, and the research activities are carried out for 1 year. The specific information of the corresponding student and the research project are as follows.

Project:Smart Factory by SLAP: Simulataneous Localization and Planning.
Details:The purpose of the project is developing the unmanned transportation system at an in-door environment such as the manufacturing factory and the warehouse. By utilizing the SLAP technique, estimating the position of transportation machine or designing the optimized route can be realized. In order to verify its effectiveness, they will conduct the experimental verification by collaborating the company
