As an undergraduate, I initially studied empirical accounting. However, after taking an accounting course from a statistical approach, I became interested in statistics, especially Bayesian statistics. I changed my major from accounting to marketing science because it uses more sophisticated Bayesian inference and is more related to daily life. I entered RWDC to develop my knowledge and techniques to become a data scientist.
Marketing science allows the behavior of the market and consumers to be understood as well as business strategies to be drawn using scientific tests based on data analysis and quantitative modeling. Because complex models are necessary to capture various consumers' behaviors, Bayesian methods, including Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), are used to estimate such complex models (state space modeling, including latent variables and hierarchical Bayes model). My research focuses on modeling consumer behaviors via the Bayesian method. I am trying to develop robust models that can be adapted to real-world marketing strategies.
